Timbakote Lockwood Blond is a very tough coating designed for internal timber panelling and trim. It gives excellent adhesion to all timber with a high abrasion resistant surface and resists yellowing. Timbakote Lockwood Blond can be tinted Timbakote Lockwood Blond complies and is licensed by Environmental Choice New Zealand. Recommended Uses Surface Preparation Application Coverage Drying Times Clean Up Safety Disposal LOCKWOOD BLONDING ON AGED TIMBER W/.COMPARISONS RECOMMENDED USESTimbakote Interior Timbakote Lockwood Blond is an ideal coating for internal timber surfaces where a natural or Blond timber finish is required.SURFACE PREPARATIONNew Timber should be clean and dry, free of any loose fibres and any stains, stencils or other marks should be removed. All sharp edges of timber must be sanded to create a rounded edge for better adhesion.After the first coat all nail holes and minor defects should be filled with suitable timber filler tinted to the same colour as the timber substratePreviously oiled or stained timber, wipe down with detergent and water, rinse off and give light sand with 150 grit sandpaper. Do an adhesion test to make sure the Timbakote Lockwood Blond will adhere to the cleaned surface. Previously coated with Polyurethane or similar. Sand with 150 grit sandpaper and dust down, check for adhesion. APPLICATIONStir the product well before and during use with a flat stirrer.New Timber Apply 2 coats of Timbakote Lockwood Blond to achieve your Blond effect. For improved long term durability or for high wear areas apply a final coat of Timbakote Durashield clear. Previously coated Aged Timber Sand with 150 grit sandpaper along the grain and dust down. Fill all nail holes and minor defects with a suitable Timber filler tinted to the same colour as the timber substrate. It is important to trial a small area first to achieve the correct application technique & the desired finish. Apply 2 coats of Timbakote Lockwood Blond with a good quality paintbrush. Lay off to achieve an even appearance. Always keep a wet edge to avoid lap marking. Sand lightly between coats and avoid over brushing. For the best result lay off the product along the grain. If the timber colour or texture is uneven in appearance or requires heavy sanding, it is recommended to apply 1 coat of Timbakote Durashield tinted to the same colour as the timber substrate to provide a more consistent surface prior to applying the Timbakote Lockwood Blond. Thinning is not generally recommended as it can be detrimental to the coatings performance. The addition of 50mls of water per litre maybe required in hot weather or when coating absorbent surfaces. COVERAGETimber Band Sawn: 6 – 12 sqm per LitreNew Timber Dressed: 8 – 14 sqm per Litre Previously Coated Timber: 12-14 sqm per Litre DRYING TIMESDepending on such factors as film thickness, ambient air temperatures, humidity levels and air circulation. The general dry times at 6 – 12 sq metres per Litre are:Touch Dry 20 minutes Re- coat time 24 hours Curing time 7 days CLEAN UPAll equipment can be cleaned up in water.SAFETYWear impervious gloves and wash paint deposits off skin with soap and water.Moderately irritating to eyes, wear splash proof goggles. Flush eyes immediately with plenty of water if coating splashes to the eyes occur. If discomfort persists seek medical attention. Keep out of children’s reach. Ingestion; Give 1-3 cups of water and seek medical attention. DISPOSALLet residual coating dry by leaving the lid off the container. Dispose with refuse if permitted by local council.
