Timbakote Durashield Data Sheet
Timbakote Durashield is a tough acrylic enamel coating designed for internal timber panelling and trim. Durashield gives excellent adhesion to all timber with a high abrasion resistant surface, helps resist bonding of coated surfaces and does not yellow. Durashield can be tinted to the full Timbakote colour range and is available in an attractive satin finish.
Timbakote Durashield is also environmentally friendly, non toxic, non-hazardous and non-flammable.
RECOMMENDED USES
Timbakote Durashield is an ideal coating for internal timber surfaces where a natural timber finish is required.
SURFACE PREPARATION
Timbakote Interior Timber Stain, Cedar Sarking

New Timber should be clean and dry, free of any loose fibres and any stains, stencils or other marks should be removed.
All sharp edges of timber must be sanded to create a rounded edge for better adhesion. All nail holes and minor defects should be filled with a suitable timber filler tinted to the same colour as the timber substrate.
Previously oiled or stained timber, remove all poor adhering coatings, sand and wash down with a sugar soap wash, then rinse. Check adhesion
APPLICATION
Timbakote Durashield (Clear):
Stir well before use with a flat stirrer. Apply 3 coats with a good quality paintbrush, applicator pad, or spray. Sand down between coats, avoid over brushing and lay off along the grain.

Timbakote Durashield (Tinted):
Stir well before and during use with a flat stirrer.
Apply 1 coat of Tinted Timbakote Interior Timber Finish with a good quality paintbrush, applicator pad or spray. Lay off to achieve an even appearance. Always keep a wet edge to avoid lap marking. Apply 2 additional coats of Timbakote Interior clear Timber Finish.
Sand down between coats, avoid over brushing and lay off along the grain.
Thinning is not generally recommended, as it can be detrimental to the coating performance. The addition of 50mls of water maybe required in hot weather or when coating absorbent surfaces.
COVERAGE
Timber Band Sawn - 6 – 12 sqm per Litre
Timber Dressed - 8 – 14 sqm per Litre
DRYING TIMES
Depending on such factors as film thickness, ambient air temperatures, humidity levels and air circulation. The general dry times at 6 – 12 sq metres per Litre are:
Touch Dry 20 minutes
Recoat time 16 hours
Curing time 7 days
CLEAN UP
All equipment can be cleaned up in water.
SAFETY
Wear impervious gloves and wash paint deposits off skin with soap and water.
Moderately irritating to eyes, wear splash proof goggles. Flush eyes immediately with plenty of water if coating splashes to the eyes occur. If discomfort persists seek medical attention.
Keep out of children’s reach. Ingestion; Give 1-3 cups of water and seek medical attention.
DISPOSAL
Let residual coating dry by leaving the lid off the container. Dispose with refuse if permitted by local council. Paint containers are reusable for non-food purposes and recyclable in areas where recycling and collection facilities are available.
